WILLIAMS SET TO COMPETE IN BERLIN ONCE AGAIN

What a comeback! Four years following her retirement, the most successful female tennis player of all time, with 23 Grand Slam titles, is returning to the WTA Tour! Right from the outset, Serena Williams will also be competing in Berlin at the VANDA Pharmaceuticals BERLIN TENNIS OPEN (13 to 21 June 2026) at the LTTC "Rot-Weiß" Berlin. Her partner and the date of her first match in Berlin will be announced at a later stage.

Thanks to the participation of the American, once again, the VANDA Pharmaceuticals BERLIN TENNIS OPEN will showcase superstars, bringing both Grand Slam atmosphere and Wimbledon flair to the Steffi-Graf-Stadion. Alongside Serena Williams, nine ofthe currently ten best players in the world have confirmed their participation, including the leading top player, Aryna Sabalenka, world no. 2, Elena Rybakina, and Coco Gauff.

Serena Williams's track record would suffice for several careers. She has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, including seven in Wimbledon and seven at the Australian Open, six US Open titles and three French Open titles. In doubles, she achieved 14 Grand Slam victories – all alongside her sister Venus. She won four Olympic gold medals, one in singles and three in doubles, again alongside Venus. Moreover, Serena Williams was at the top of the world rankings for 319 weeks (there of 186 weeks consecutively) and thanks to her 367 Grand Slam singles victories, she holds the world record in women's tennis.

Now, she is ready to give it another go and is making a comeback to the WTA Tour, aswell as to Berlin, following her retirement and her second maternity leave. She last competed at the Steffi-Graf-Stadion in 2008, where she won her way into the quarterfinal but lost to the Russian Dinara Safina.
