The opening day of qualifying at the VANDA Pharmaceuticals BERLIN TENNIS OPEN 2026 was repeatedly interrupted by rain. Only four of the twelve scheduled matches were completed at LTTC "Rot-Weiß" on the Hundekehlesee, in front of almost 2,500 spectators. Eva Lys made the main draw under the supervision of WTA Supervisor Donna Kelso and Referee Norbert Peick. Among the first-round matches it produced are Coco Gauff vs Nikola Bartunkova, Madison Keys vs Xinyu Wang and Elina Svitolina vs Anna Kalinskaya.

Rain dominated proceedings at the Steffi Graf Stadium again on the second day of qualifying, and not a single match could be completed. The volunteers were kept busy, pulling the covers on and off all three courts time and again.
MONDAY, 16 June 2025
Monday saw the end of qualifying and the start of the main draw. Shuai Zhang, Rebeka Masarova, Diane Parry, Katerina Siniakova and Renata Zarazua all came through qualifying, while German hopes Ella Seidel and Tessa Johanna Brockmann both fell short. The first upset of the main draw came from Nikola Bartunkova, who beat French Open semifinalist Diana Shnaider. Ekaterina Alexandrova also reached the last 16 when Anastasia Potapova retired trailing, and Elise Mertens came from a set down to beat Ludmilla Samsonova.
TUESDAY, 16 June 2026
The near-capacity crowd at the Steffi Graf Stadium rose to their feet as Serena Williams walked out on to Centre Court. Her doubles comeback alongside Karolina Muchova ended after 1 hour 29 minutes against Giuliana Olmos and Erin Routliffe, but the fans cheered her on loudly throughout. Eva Lys reached the last 16 with victory over Magdalena Frech. Madison Keys, Linda Noskova, Paula Badosa and Elina Svitolina also progressed.
WEDNESDAY, 18 June 2025
In front of another near-capacity crowd, Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula played their first matches and both reached the quarter-finals in straight sets. The most emotional moment of the day belonged to Paula Badosa, who was in tears of joy during her on-court interview after beating Coco Gauff in three sets. Alexandra Eala also defeated Queen's champion Donna Vekic.
THURSDAY, 19 June 2025
Sunshine, sweltering heat and six gripping matches defined Thursday's play. The biggest upset came from Alexandra Eala, who recovered from 1-4 down in the first set to beat world No. 2 Elena Rybakina in straight sets. Eva Lys's run ended in the round of 16 against Elina Svitolina, while Linda Noskova and Madison Keys also reached the quarter-finals.
FRIDAY, 20 June 2025
With temperatures around 34 °C in the shade, quarter-final day became a battle against the heat. Aryna Sabalenka trailed Nikola Bartunkova by a set and 0-4 before turning the match around after 2 hours 23 minutes. Jessica Pegula won the all-American encounter with her friend Madison Keys, and Linda Noskova and Alexandra Eala completed the semi-final line-up.

In front of a sell-out crowd at the Steffi Graf Stadium, Jessica Pegula beat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets in a rain-interrupted semi-final. In the second semi-final, Linda Noskova defeated crowd favourite Alexandra Eala. In the doubles, Sara Errani and Nicole Melichar-Martinez reached the final, while the other semi-final was suspended due to darkness.
SUNDAY, 22 June 2025
Shortly before the final, a severe storm with torrential rain and strong gusts swept across the Grunewald. The grounds were left ankle-deep in water and had to be evacuated temporarily. In the late afternoon, the volunteers rolled the covers off the grass to loud applause. Linda Noskova then beat Jessica Pegula in three sets to claim the biggest title of her career.
